variant children visibility difference between V1 and V2 of the products collection service

in V1 of the product collection service, style parent product visibility is taken into consideration when determining if a variant child product is visible or not, but V2 doesn't do that!
we noticed this on the Order History Details page after turning ON the setting Override Product v1, when the setting is OFF the variant child product will show as in-visible (can't be clicked and shows no image), but if you turn the setting ON the variant child product will start showing as a visible product (can be clicked and image shows) but if a user click on it he will be directed to 404 not found error page.

    • Did a customization get applied that caused this scenario to occur or does this happen when using our base code and then a customization was used to correct it?
      this is a base code issue that we corrected using a customization.

    • Is the request for us to show an 'unclickable' image where today we show no image?
      the current behavior shows a clickable image that directs the user to the PDP of an in-visible product which causes the site to show the 404 not found error page, the request is to show an un-clickable image for variant products if their parent is in-visible (which is the current behavior of the V1 products service)

    I am not clear on this request however, and noticed the support ticket was closed and customization was applied. Can you clarify -

    1. Did a customization get applied that caused this scenario to occur or does this happen when using our base code and then a customization was used to correct it?

    2. Is the request for us to show an 'unclickable' image where today we show no image?

    When I read through the support ticket it appeared that no clickable image was presented to storefront user on the page (which would prevent the 404 navigation concerns)
