Application log clean up of errors generated by automated requests

We check from time to time the application logs to determine the health of the application, so if we see an error we feel the need to investigate the source of that error. Except that lately, some of our customers have their application logs polluted with errors generated by thousands of requests that are clearly done by automated attacks. This makes it more difficult for us to detect actual errors that we need to address. Since there is nothing we can do to act upon those, can those get filtered so they never get to the application logs?

When we see automated attacks, I'd expect the hosting provider to automatically block those IP's!
