Remove or Toggle the imagePickerField Appending Width/Height to URL

There is a function (updateFieldWithWidthAndHeight) in the imagePickerField component of Spire that is going out to the URL to detect the source image’s width and height and then appending that to the end of the URL on field blur.

Can this be removed or made optional through a site setting?

I think that if we could make this optional it would improve both the performance of the authoring experience as well as removing clutter from the URL that isn't used for anything.

Great news! Our team has made updates to no longer append URLs with this data and it is included in January 2024 Release

I've discussed this internally and we are reviewing potential alternative solutions that would retain the dimensions without appending them as parameters.

We have added this item to our roadmap. Although we cannot guarantee a release date, we expect this feature to be available within the next 12 months.

Thanks for considering. I think the issue is that it's not always accurate if using a CDN that does image size optimizations.

This appears to be how our system is preventing Content Layout Shifting for images loaded.

We are reviewing if there are other options to support the same outcome without appending query parameters but at this time there are no current changes planned.

Thank you for submitting this request! Our team is currently reviewing if and how we may adjust this behavior, particularly with consideration of our wide client base.

We will update this ticket once we have completed this investigation.
