One of the main reasons we began looking for software like the CMP was for the purpose of faceted search. The expectation was that the Search functionality in Welcome would allow us to search for precise key words or phrases within the content and faithfully return all results in a reportable format. The goal being to take that report and share it with all of the necessary teams to quickly update sensitive terminology.
Based on our testing we cannot do this currently. We can search the task contents to find individual articles created with the Welcome text editor. We can search the Library for individual articles created with either the Welcome text editor or the O365 connector. But what we need to be able to do that we currently cannot is listed below.
1. We need to be able to search for exact phrases such as "Frank Lloyd Wright" where it only returns tasks with articles that contain that complete phrase, rather than any keyword in the phrase. Such as using quotation marks for exact phrases versus allowing for partial search terms without quotes.
2. We need to be able to filter the List View grid using precise search terms or phrases to return all results with those search terms in the task contents so that we can share or export a report of all articles containing those phrases.
3. The ability to filter the List View grid needs to extend into the content of a Welcome document or an O365 document as it does in the Library.
Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed feedback. As a quick update, we've released a few new features that should help, though I'll leave this as open an under consideration as we haven't fully solved the needs you've addressed here. A few notes:
We have recently released the ability to search for direct matches using quotation marks. This functionality (as well as using "and" and "or" operators) is now available in Global Search as well as in Plan module search and will return exact matches only.
We have also added a new section to the Global Search specifically for matches within Task Contents.
That said, we still have work to do in order to support search deep into all file types, as well as work in order to bring the file search into the Plan module. We'll keep these in mind as we develop our future roadmap.
